After 8 years of foster care and in home daycare, Emily Balow discovered her love for fitness in her spare time.  Stumbling upon Dragonfly was unplanned but not regretted and the best career decision she has ever made. Emily is fun and motivating. Join one of her low pressure, anything goes classes, you won’t regret it.

Zumba is a Latin based, shake your booty aerobic workout, that everyone must try ! This is the most fun you will ever have getting in shape no matter what your level of dance is. Shake your way to better health, more energy and a smaller dress size.

Circuits is a higher intensity class that you can ease into. You will be introduced to weights, cardio, plyometrics and calisthenics.  Don’t be intimidated! You’ll love the results

Hip Hop Fit is Emily’s creation of today’s hits with choreographed toning songs.  Less dancing, more toning!

Abs on Fire is 30 minutes of high intensity core work.

Katy – Owner, Fast Fit Trainer

Katy Higley decided to join a gym when she quit smoking and needed a distraction. Dragonfly quickly became much more than that for her. Despite losing 100lbs, Katy doesn’t believe gyms or workouts should be focused on losing weight, but on building strength both mentally and physically. What she found when she joined Dragonfly was just that: a community focused on empowering each other to push past their limitations to embrace the strong, bold, badass within. A place that embodies those beliefs through mutual support, accountability, inclusion of all, and a healthy dose of humor (i.e. sarcasm & cuss words.)

Katy has been training small group fitness classes for the last year. Her vision for D2 Performance & Training includes all of the above along with the desire to inspire others to be bold and unrelenting in their prioritization of health, wellness, and strength. If you’re looking for a community to inspire you and support you in your quest to BE YOUR BEST every day, even when you fight her on it, Katy’s the trainer for you.

Outside the gym Katy is continuing to pursuing a certification from ISSA for Personal Fitness Training and Sports Nutrition. She loves dogs, long walks/hikes, being outside, camping, and her family and friends.

Neva – Owner, Fast Fit Trainer, ISSA Certified

Neva was one of Dragonfly in Eau Claire’s first 20 clients in the Fast Fit program, in 2013.

“For the first 35 years of my life I was someone who always admired athletes from afar. I did not play sports growing up and did not workout much in my youth or as an adult. When I was in my early thirties I had tried different gyms, different workout classes and trainers. None of these gyms or trainers ever made me want to come back to continue on a healthier lifestyle until I met up with a childhood classmate in the fall of 2013. Emily had told me she opened a small gym and had a program to help with obtaining my goals. That gym was Dragonfly and the program was called Fast Fit.

In the first 6 months I had achieved many fitness goals and a few I didn’t know I had in me. I remember when my trainer told me to do 3 burpees in the first month I was working out, I literally cried. Fast forward to 2020 and I completed 650 burpees in less than 45 minutes.

In the beginning I never considered myself a runner. I was always the kid in class that could never run a full mile because I had asthma so I never attempted to run as an adult. After working out at Dragonfly for four months a friend asked if I would do a 5k with her. Naturally I laughed and said, “I am not a runner and have never ran a full mile before.” She looked at me and said, “if you can workout at Dragonfly for 30 minutes a day you can easily complete a 5k!” I signed up for my first 5k and two months later I ran my first 5k in 28 minutes. I became hooked on fitness.

Two years later I started teaching classes. I have been teaching Fast Fit, Circuits, Abs class, and line dancing for 4 years now and it has become a passion of mine to help others that are in the same spot I was.

This gym and this program has allowed me to share my life with the most amazing people that have become friends and family.

I look forward to meeting new people in Menomonie and share this amazing program with even more amazing people.

I continue to further my education through ISSA training and nutrition programs.

Michaela – Zumba

Always a dancer at heart, Michaela turned to Zumba after a semester abroad left her craving Spanish music. It turned out to be the gateway drug she could never have imagined – a connection to her happy place and to latin dance here at home!

Her favorite part about Zumba is that there is a song for everything – if you want to be silly, dance it out. If you want to feel sexy, dance it out! If you’re here for those gains, come and get’em! You can be happy, sad, stressed, or anything in between – a good Zumba party cures all. ¡Epa!

Faith – Insanity

Originally Faith started participating in fitness classes in hopes of making cardio workouts more enjoyable. She quickly fell in love with Insanity and thought she could help others enjoy cardio too. Faith is all about efficient & effective workouts. She teaches Insanity and Core Conditioning. Faith creates a positive & upbeat environment for people to work harder than they ever have, while having more fun than they thought possible. Insanity description:Insanity is a cardio bodyweight class that consists of short bursts of self-paced exercises. Each exercise is done for 30-60 seconds. The focus is to burn fat and create lean muscle by taking the heart-rate up & down repeatedly. You will be sweating and smiling your way through this class as you surprise yourself with what you can accomplish. Don’t miss it!
